first, let me say that this night had a magnificent moon! it was difficult to capture as the clouds kept obscuring my view.... but i got one!
next, an introduction.
this is pooch c, a fellow sagittarian, and it was her birthday on the first of december. she invited pooch noodle and i to her place for dinner.
she made buddha rice bowls from this cookbook http://www.freshrestaurants.ca/cookbooks.asp
this is the restaurant that we went to in toronto before the U2 concert.
amazing !
she also made fresh / raw spring rolls. you can find the recipe here at pooch noodles blog

my part in this dinner was dessert. so, i look online for asian desserts to go with the theme of the evening. i find this one : banana cashew cake.
http://www.asianonlinerecipes.com/online_recipes/vietnam/banana-cake-cashews.php
it looks easy, except for the 2kg of ripe bananas. i went to all the stores in goderich and can only find HUGE semi-ripe ones. then they tell you to flatten but not mash all these bananas. i ended up putting 8 out of the 10 in and you can see in the photo below how chunky it looks. with no baking powder or soda it will end up sorta flat, which it did..... like a dense pudding cake thing...
all in all, it was quite an adventure. dessert was tasty, also thanks to haagen dazs vanilla bean ice cream and pooch c's pretty dishes.
happy birthday !!!
i took all the pics except pooch c
Hi Pooch
ReplyDeleteand hi Pooch c!!
Great job on the moon shot.. it's hard isn't it? I think you need special equipment to get a non-grainy shot.. but I love them grainy too...
Looks like you had a lot of fun here...but who had to do the washing up? hehe. xx Julie
PS Glad you liked the Positano shots... I have Portofino too... coming to a blog near you soon. OH and the blue moon is in Jan... I thought the same so had to go look it up..

Toda esta comida tiene un aspecto fantástico. Yo no se cocinar y admiro A LOS que si saben. Ha valido la pena el desorden. Las Lunas de otoño son muy grandes y bonitas.
ReplyDeleteUn saludo
