2nd annual birthday shooting

Happy 2012 !!

i have been away in ontario again, to celebrate the holidays with my family and friends .... ( ontario friends.)

sooo....yeah, i had my 50th birthday while i was away.

it was fun..... not as scary as i imagined. ;)

my son took me shooting again.

thats our target. we each had one.

thats the red flag in the sun. i think its a cool pic.

and receiver,

the little symbol of the eagle clutching the swastika,

is a Nazi firing proof.

it means that the rifle was tested and approved.

i really liked shooting this one hehe

theres our targets

mine.... i didnt even hit the paper with the rifle at 50 yards.

and not with the hand gun at 25 yards

what i did hit was at 10 yards...... it was SO cold out again, its the best i could do. i barely wounded him.

my son did much better !!

Im 50 now. I may as well know how to shoot.

Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia

I had company driving back from Ontario to PEI this fall, after the house closing.

We decided on a road trip, after the big road trip.

destination, peggys cove nova scotia

approximately 4 hours drive from where i live on the island

it's a magical place

just can't get enough

that reminded me of a song..... depeche mode

( just can't seem to get enough of mr. DG either *whhew*)

brings back some memories that pooch punk ang may or may not tell you about :)

the following is a tribute to the town of goderich, ontario, canada where i raised my family and had a home for

12 years

a long, but deserving post

before and after photos of goderich ontario. the result of

F3 tornado with 280 - 300 km per hour winds

i found the pics on google images (above and below)

On the afternoon of August 21, 2011, an F3^[7] tornado touched down in the town, after coming ashore as a waterspout as the mesocyclone thunderstorm cell moved across Lake Huron. It was the strongest tornado that had hit Ontario since the Arthur, Ontario tornado of April 20, 1996, though on average, F3 tornadoes occur in Ontario every eight years. The devastating storm downed power lines, tore roofs off houses, and left cars and trees scattered along city streets. Hundred-year-old trees surrounding the Goderich Courthouse were uprooted in seconds. The tornado killed one person: Norman Laberge, 61, of Lucknow, who was working in a salt mine on the coast of Lake Huron when the storm hit. 37 people were injured. The Environment Canada weather forecast office in Toronto issued a tornado warning for Goderich and southern Huron County 12 minutes before the tornado struck.^[8] The town does not have a tornado siren unlike some other Ontario cities.

i was home at the time, preparing my house for sale

luckily,

my self and my home were not injured, although the most beautiful tree in the yard

crashed down ( only part of it ) and buried my car

believe me, it is nothing compared to what happened

winter wonderland / pooch visit

no, i do not wish for the snow to be back

we skied one day and snowshoed another

such gorgeous days arent common around here in winter

so we were really grateful

ive been away again......

back in ontario for all of april

working on the house that i have now decided to sell

it has been feeling really heavy on my shoulders

but since signing the papers with the realtor, the burden is already less

the place inbetween is uncertain

but im finding many things to amuse myself

these holes i found in the rocks by the ocean on green gables shore

5 minutes east of cavendish

and 5 minutes west of north rustico

on the central part of the north shore

of prince edward island, canada

im loving life right now

and im happy to be back on the island

are you ready boots?

i had a birthday over the holidays. yes, it was before christmas and im just getting to it now...

baby pooch got me a t-shirt from the gorillaz concert, which i was very sad to miss

and some new pooch slippers.... its chilly where i live!!

my son, and his sweetie pooch jilly bean, took me target shooting.

he taught us gun safety and how to be safe on the range. he was thorough and watched us carefully.

remember kids, this was target shooting..... just for FUN

we used AR-15 semi-automatic type rifle in 5.56 x 45mm

and a 1911 handgun in .45 ACP cartridge

and a few pics of us shooting. it was SO cold that day. it was painful to be without gloves just for those few moments to shoot

thats my excuse for not hitting my target even once. son says the zombies would have got me for sure

got these shoes in charlottetown last week .... on sale

and..... ahhh, the boots. this was my gift from pooch lucy and her bf J

the main reason for all that walking around toronto. they are THE most awesome boots

i've been away

two weeks in kingston ontario at my brothers, then pooch youngest daughter came to PEI for a visit

these pics are catch up from my trip to toronto for the holidays

sadly, the day i arrived i found out that our oldest cat gypsy had passed away.

when i made the transition to PEI, she stayed behind with my mom

pooch special k made this marker for her grave and we opened a bottle of bubbly to celebrate her life

there she is in her last summer

looking pretty and regal, i think

my last post showed some sights in toronto and this is a continuation

some of these are on the street and some are inside this huge wierd discount store called honest ed's

and i will end that visit with the most bizarre little snow man .....

we found him down the street....... i had nothing to do with him except the photo... lol

i went back to ontario to spend the holidays with my family.

my flight there was cancelled due to a fuel leak on the plane.

so i arrived in toronto the next day. i went with pooch lucys (oldest daughters ) boyfriend to see black swan.

walking through the manulife center, we took some pics of the sparkly decorations

black swan was amazing btw

new years lobster

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

pooch special k found this website with instructions for what to do if you are a woman and ringing in the new year alone

( i assumed by choice )

for women only

so i go in to charlottetown and buy a new years lobster for my dinner

i got him already cooked but fresh.

im just not ready for the whole "live steaming" thing yet

i bought myself one red rose and i already had a bottle of cheap bubbly. good enough to ring in the new year ~~and say good bye to a shitty one~~

these are the necessary tools to crack the dinner, but keep in mind that i have never done this before.

when i first arrived on the island i went to 2 lobster suppers but they are conveniently already cut

ready to dig in

to preserve the lobsters dignity, i did not photograph the carnage that ensued, but suffice to say he got the best of me

to preserve MY dignity, i vowed to conquer this in the morning ~~with less bubbly in my blood~~.... which i did, with renewed vigour

and retained my newly acquired title of "islander"

so k and i decided to skype.

the wierd part is that its a photo of my computer screen looking at her christmas tree and television with my skype box in the upper right corner

you can only see both of our boobs but im taking the pics

i dont have any channels so we watched her tv

the above pic shows the labrador and atlantic time zone ringing in the new year

you can see our choices for which channel to watch. we saw some of new york city,

some of niagara falls and some atlantic canada

next we rang in the new year in her time zone an hour later

and this was the most important part

victoria-by-the-sea / landmark cafe

a few days after i arrived, it was recommended that i go to this little place called the landmark cafe.

since i didnt know where i was going i just started driving

but i did get lucky and found it

this place is awesome. i got there the last day they are open for the season. they told me that the day before, the food network had been there filming all day.

its a 23 meter falls (the largest in canada east of niagara falls) but it is used for electricity so i could see the gorge but not the falls

since i had such a short drive today, i decided to stop at magnetic hill in moncton, NB

in neutral, my car actually went UP the hill

its so fun i did it 3 times

i have moved.... off on a new adventure

the house / home that i had, i loved

some friends asked me to house-sit their place for an undetermined amount of time

in prince edward island, east coast canada

even though it felt a little scary and sad leaving my kids, all my friends and family...

a little voice inside me said "dont you DARE say no!"

so here i am

i reserve pooch morning glory for a time when "other pooch" returns

in the meantime i continue to fly solo

with that being said,

i am sad to leave and my heart hurts a bit,

but i trust in good things to come.

checked out some yoga and qi gong classes here. she really is an awesome instructor. she integrated mindfulness and meditation into her sessions. she rocks.

the next few pics are from the sculpture forest at the haliburton school of the arts. it was neat. you just walk thru the forest and find these in random places

we ate here. excellent soy latte.

and we ate in this awesome pizza place near our campground. i cant remember the name but it sure was memorable pizza! we went back twice

and last we went to the wolf center. theres a cool story about this on the website below

when we went, we heard the story of how the center evolved, then walked into the forest and howled.

usually the pack will howl back but likely they were not in close enough vicinity for us to hear them

the guide assured us that they would hear us

moon shadows winery/haliburton part 2

back to the campground.

i have moved inbetween the last post and now, thus the MIA status

road trip haliburton part 1

pooch special k and i went on a camping trip to haliburton ontario. this is a very popular destination in ontario as it is very beautiful

the map shows part of the journey. i think it was 5-6 hours to drive.

yes.... it says git R done on the back window

this was an interesting moment... we were all about stopping at little shops checking for cool stuff; maybe some wild blueberries

a sign on the side of the road says store ahead... open

so we go in ... and it smells so musty, like it just opened that day from being boarded shut for 10 years

this dude and a pregnant woman sitting on the porch

almost like a scene from deliverance.... but they were SO friendly. it was just a bit bizarre

we bought a coke and a ginger ale for our mix for later

this was our little shack. it was awesome. better than a tent

high luxury for a camping trip

we rescued the fork from the flames

worth the wait

a few weeks ago i took some pics in the back yard. its fun watching the flowers open and everything grow

3 or 4 years ago my boys got me a grape vine for mothers day

FINALLY i noticed little bunches of small grapes

here they are the little cuties

so now we wait. its been sooooo hot and wet and humid here. maybe they like that

and there is a huge pumpkin plant. i watched the bees inside the bloom

they were pretty excited about it

a couple weeks later, and heres the pumpkin.

not ready yet....

but the grapes are

they are so beautiful and tasty AND worth the wait

and thats daddy cool.... just being a cat

my brother calls me and tells me there are 2 free shows of bands from our teenage years, and would i like to go.

less than 24 hours notice, but i feel its necessary to say yes.

we get there at 2 minutes to 2, and the show starts at 2. its late of course so we go to the beer tent for a quick pint

thats my brother. he looks pretty happy to be there.

the first band is the diodes. they announced that their first album was released before the sex pistols

the pics arent great. it was sooooo hot and sunny and its the best i could do in the conditions

WE DID IT !

For me, it was my first 5 km run event.

this was my number bib thing. actually, only the kids ran around the square.... ours was a course around town that started on the square ( it isnt really a square either. its an octagon, but still you go around the "square") ...town square i guess....

the kids run was first. they were awesome

we thought number 70 looked like forest gump (when he was runnin-G)

i liked the guy with the gun

time to run.......

theres our finishing medals wooo !

and there we are.....3 pooches holding the olympic torch. a local woman had been running with this in beijing.

we got breakfast and prizes and matching t-shirts. cant beat that

every spring its a big deal to clean the old leaves out of the pond so the fish have a clean habitat.

i practically have this kind of music in my blood. i played mandolin as a kid (and i plan to pick it up again), and both my parents played in a band. my mom played the stand up base and my dad still plays the 5- string banjo.

these guys, altho they looked serious were alot of fun and really rocked the place.

here i will make an attempt to show you about the work i do. its called electron frequency analysis (EFA) and the following are some shots of my studio and the instruments i use.

each group of 6 dials represents a frequency. i use DNA to look for disturbances in frequency in the tissues of the human body.

during the assessment process, the instrument will help determine the cause of the particular "dis-ease" or symptom

once cause is determined, (eg. flu symptoms caused by virus in digestive tract and liver) i can set up the instrument to kill the virus using specific frequencies.

we use frequencies to restore balance and homeostasis

so, thats it. just thought i would share.

i am self-employed, which gives me freedom, and i never have 2 days the same.

clients can be from anywhere in the world because i work with DNA, therefore distance is irrelevant ......so its always interesting

but thats probably another story.

i was helping my mom sort the contents/possessions of an older relatives house and belongings as she has now entered a seniors facility.

it was a strange and interesting experience and i couldnt help but photograph a few of the more eccentric items i came across.

this woman was born in england, lived in scotland for much of her life, then came to canada.

if anyone recognizes any of these items, please comment as i am curious of their origin.

some of it is even a bit creepy

the teddy is hand-made and stuffed with horse hair.... really old...

well, thats it for today. im glad thats over. its odd to think that someday my descendants will be looking at my things and thinking how eccentric i was.....

lately, i have been measuring happiness in moments rather than entire days or events or generalities.

the following photos are moments in which i recently felt very happy.

i LOVE coloured glass. i just took some random pictures. the top one is in the kitchen sink, the bottom one in my living room

this little corner of the earth is pretty cool. its where i live at the moment

this is the newly renovated bathroom. the old one could have won the "most ugly-assed bathroom" award. now its pretty. i think anyone deserves to see prettiness first thing when you wake up

during renos, i had to get a drain kit for the clawfoot tub. seriously, this picture was on the box. needless to say i bought that one! then i cut him out and framed him for the bathroom. yeah.

two romantic comedies / GO CANADA

this entry is still post valentine-y so i thought i best get to it..

this little gem is of course an ice sculpture of inuksuk, presumably to cheer on canadian olympic snowboarding.. pooch special k and i saw it on someones front lawn driving back thru stratford on one of our road trips.

there she is . soooo cute. just my opinion, but i didnt like the first play. it was called strawberries in january ( altho i like strawberries any month )

the second one, my narrator, was REALLY funny. big thumbs up to pooch GG. you rocked it.

these next few photos are the gifts that daughter pooch lucy and her dude J brought back from vietnam for me. above is a little vietnamese coffee maker. first you put sweetened condensed milk in the glass, then put the coffee in the little thing and pour boiling water in and let it drip thru.... then stir. its strong, sweet and called vietnamese white coffee.

they had this made for me at a silversmith in hanoi. it is a gratitude symbol. check out the site for a very cool link to a 2 minute video ( for the symbol not the silversmith :) )

o, ps, before i start .... #3 of things that make me happy is spending time with my friends. i value that highly among my very favourites!

so, breakfast was happening at the richtree market. it is such a cool and fun place to eat.

i decided on crepe with egg, cheese, potatoe, mushrooms, and onion inside, with salad

this was pretty, just right behind the table where we sat.

last weekend a couple pooches and i went on a road trip to toronto. pooch special k had to stop in london first, so pooch LL and i spent the time in a pub called the waltzing weasel. we were parched so of course ordered some beverages. she had strongbow cider and i had a snakebite... half guinness and half cider. awesome combo!
